Another Month, Another Two Names

Welcome to July.

Dartmouth's three nonconference opponents can all say, "Our season starts next month." At least the Big Green and the Ivies can say, "Our preseason starts next month."

FYI, all three of Dartmouth's out-of-conference foes kick off on Aug. 30. Fordham plays at Boston College, Central Connecticut plays at UConn and New Hampshire plays at North Carolina Central.

And . . .

King is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker out of Loyola Academy in Illinois, where Don Dobes, the Dartmouth linebacker coach/defensive coordinator, has made a living. King reports offers from Yale, Penn and Cornell. He had 56 tackles (31 solo) with four for a loss and a touchdown last fall for the 8A state champions, earning CCL all-conference honorable mention as a junior.

Betette is a 5-11, 185 wide receiver from Richland Northeast HS (Columbia, S.C.) who reports offers from Princeton, Penn, Columbia and Marshall. He had 81 catches for 1,158 yards and 10 touchdown while piling up 1,294 all-purpose yards. Find a story about him HERE.

Cornell is the latest Ivy League school to announce its incoming freshman class with bios on each player HERE.

Green Alert Take: Still waiting on bios of Dartmouth's freshman from last season, as well as the official announcement of this season's freshman class.

Fordham has announced its promotion schedule for the coming season and here's what it posted about the Oct. 18 game against Dartmouth:

Join generations of Rams past and present as we celebrate homecoming on the Rose Hill campus.  Race in the 5K Ram Run or reunite with old friends under the tent on Edwards Parade before heading into Moglia Stadium for a thrilling gridiron showdown with the Big Green.

Green Alert Take: Don't get the wrong idea about the Homecoming piece. The days of schools picking a cupcake to assure a win over its Homecoming opponent ended a long time ago. What being the Homecoming opponent means is that the visitor can expect a large and rowdy crowd rooting for the home team.
