DL Set For Dartmouth

Although early reports had him ticketed for Portland State, 6-foot-4 1/2, 220-pound defensive end Sawyer Whalen of Woodinville, Wash., will instead be heading to Hanover.

Whalen was chosen to the News Tribune's all-state football team (link) and the Star Times defensive team (link). He was the 2011 All KingCo Crown Division Defensive Player of the Year (link), a Seattle Times Top 25 pick and was chosen a Washington's Finest: All-Camp Team defensive lineman.

WashingtonPreps.com had a preseason story that described his "Eye of the Tiger" approach to the game and asking whether he might be the best defensive end in the region.
