Baseball Monday

Utility man Ed Lucas '04 the former Dartmouth jayvee quarterback who finally made it to the big leagues with Miami in 2013, is in camp with the Texas Rangers this spring and gets a mention in one of the first Tweets by Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus '91, who has decided to embrace Twitter according to a story in the Detroit Free Press (link).

Ausmus retweeted this from Jerry Cranick:
Ed Lucas showing that old Dartmouth power. Crushes a triple to dead center for #Rangers against the #Brewers.
Lucas followed up with two hits in the Rangers' first spring victory. (link)

Back to Ausmus. His Twitter account has just nine tweets so far, and here's another one:
Good luck to Dartmouth Coach Whalen and @BigGreenBaseball team on opening season series at Texas A&M this weekend.
Speaking of Dartmouth and the big leagues, Kyle Hendricks '12 is penciled in as the Chicago Cubs' fourth starter according according to the Chicago Tribune. (link)

Sticking with the theme, Joe Sclafani '12, like Lucas a former Dartmouth shortstop bidding for a utility role with the Houston Astros, gave at least some thought to playing college basketball. Perhaps even doubling up in Hanover. Check out a Fansided Q&A with Sclafani. (link)
