Check It Out

Better late than never. Somehow in the crush of news out of the Ivy League championship win a few weeks ago this didn't make it to BGA Daily. Now it has. Enjoy revisiting the excitement in the minutes after Dartmouth learned it won a share of the Ivy League title:

The only news that has gone public out of the transfer portal is defensive back Onye Onuoha earning offers from Stetson and Colorado School of Mines, the Division II powerhouse that prioritizes recruiting Coloradans, like Onuoha, who hails from Denver.

Prior to top-ranked and unbeaten "Mines" winning its NCAA quarterfinal game last week The Denver Gazette had a story about the emphasis the school puts on keeping talent at home. Featured in the story was Dartmouth alum Noah Roper, one who got away but returned this fall as a grad transfer. From the story (LINK):

Roper has benefitted the backfield with a team-high 783 yards and (Zach) Hester accounted for 2 1/2 sacks and four tackles for loss to aid the team’s top-10 defensive unit.

Colorado players are represented on the Mines' roster more than any other state.

“It’s amazing how a team will bring people together,” Roper said. “It’s awesome to be around all the Colorado people, and kids you knew in high school and how much they’ve grown.”

Roper ran for 95 yards in Mines' quarterfinal win over Central Washington and now has 878 yards heading into Saturday's semifinal matchup with Pennsylvania's Kutztown University.

Green Alert Take: Keep in mind that Onuoha and the rest of the Big Green players in the portal this fall, are all seniors on track and intending to graduate from Dartmouth, as Roper did last spring.

Speaking of players graduating and intending to grad transfer, here's a nifty graphic from the Dartmouth football office. While there are a lot of graphics that go up, this one with action behind a still photo of Charlie Looes caught my eye:

Looes' offer sheet already includes Ball State, Coastal Carolina, The University at Buffalo, Albany, Arkansas State, Bryant, Connecticut, Georgia State, Incarnate Word, Liberty, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rice, Texas State, Tulsa and William & Mary.

EXTRA POINT
We have an old Brother laser printer here in the BGA World Headquarters. It prints in black-and-white, which is just fine because it spits out pages pretty quickly. The problem is that at least a couple of weeks ago the thing beeped and shared the message that it was low on toner and of course we haven't ordered a new cartridge of the stuff yet.

I was in West Lebanon yesterday and should have checked if there were any available at Best Buy or Staples, but it never occurred to me. Of course, as I said earlier, the printer is old so there's a good chance this particular tone cartridge has to be ordered. If I'm smart, I'll order a new one today but you know I probably will forget. Then we'll try to copy a tax document or something else important and all we'll get is beeps.
