Tues News

In today's episode of As The Portal World Turns, 6-foot-4, 260-pound Dartmouth tight end Jace Henry has fielded an offer from San Diego State and safety Leonard St. Gourdin's growing offer sheet now includes an offer from New Hampshire.

Both Henry and St. Gourdin are true seniors eligible to return to Dartmouth for their COVID bonus season if they were to put off graduation one term.

Charlie Looes, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound Dartmouth defensive lineman, led the Ivy League in sacks with 7.5, quarterback hits, pressures and "pass rush win rate." He was in New York City as one of two finalists for the conference's Bushnell Cup, which went to Penn D-lineman Joey Slackman.

Looes, who has used up his Ivy League eligibility, still has one season remaining by NCAA rule and has fielded offers from (among others) Ball State, Coastal Carolina, the University at Buffalo, Albany, Arkansas State, Bryant, Connecticut,Georgia State,  Incarnate Word, Liberty, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rice, Texas State, Tulsa and William & Mary.

Slackman, likewise, is moving on from Penn and has an offer sheet featuring more than 25 schools including Michigan, Washington, Oregon and USC.

Yale's Nolan Grooms repeated as the offensive Bushnell winner.

Here's a video of the two Bushnell defensive finalists produced by the Ivy League:

Chris Wilkerson, an assistant coach at Dartmouth from 2005-13, finished sixth in the voting for the Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of the Year Award after leading Eastern Illinois to an 8-3 record this fall. Wilk is in just his second year at his alma mater after a successful run as head coach at the University of Chicago. Eastern was ranked as one of the "last four out" in its bid for a berth in the FCS playoffs this year. (LINK)

EXTRA POINT
Heavy snow predicted for our part of Vermont stayed mostly in the Green Mountains with barely a dusting at our hillside home. My hiking trail, just two miles away, got a little more and was pretty as a picture when I headed up to the peak late yesterday afternoon. Here's a flat area where the new-fallen snow straddles runoff from the storm that began as rain.
