EXTRA POINT

On my hike a couple of days ago I met a couple from Wisconsin who came to New England for her nephews wedding. They told me the wedding was in Woodstock so I proceeded to play tour director and fill them with all kinds of local knowledge about classic Vermont town. I told them about the covered bridge and how the Mount Tom hiking trails are five minutes from the Woodstock Inn. I told them about the Rockefellers influence on the town, and about the Marsh - Billings - Rockefeller National Historical Park with its wonderful carriage trails. I told them about the old TV commercial filmed there with the Clydesdales pulling a sled through the snow-covered downtown.

When I asked the folks from Wisconsin where they were staying, they said in Lincoln, which I found curious. It’s a 90-minute drive from Lincoln to Woodstock.

That night I told Mrs. BGA about meeting the couple and how surprised I was they were staying 75 miles away from the wedding venue.

Mrs. BGA gently reminded me Woodstock NEW HAMPSHIRE is five miles from Lincoln.

Oops.
