FCS Football Central has a preview of todays game that includes this (LINK):

If you are a projected bubble team, this game could have a massive impact on how tight the bubble will be for the FCS Playoffs. A Harvard loss could set the Ivy League up for two bids, while a Harvard win could push the Crimson into the Top 8 seed conversation. Dartmouth needs this win to remain in the race for the auto bid, and potentially the FCS Playoffs.

And . . .

This could be Harvard's biggest test of the season, but I still like how this team matches up against Dartmouth. The rushing defense will be key, while Craig has another stellar performance, helping the Crimson improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Ivy League play.

Prediction: Harvard (35-21)

Green Alert Take: Not sure FCS Football Central has it right. A Harvard win could mean two bids thanks to the Big Green’s wins over New Hampshire and Central Connecticut, two potential playoff teams. New Hampshire has an outside shot and Central Connecticut will absolutely be back in the playoffs if it wins out. Should Harvard lose its chances for an at-large bid will suffer because its best non-conference win would be . . . wait for it . . . 3-5 Merrimack?

Jake Novak down at Roar Lions Roar has made his Ivy League picks HERE. From his podcast:

Just think that Harvard's too strong, but I do think it's going to be a really good game. I definitely think it's going to be a one-score game. So picking Dartmouth to cover that 11.5-point spread, but not win.

Those of you with YouTube TV who were going to record Penn-Brown last night while watching the World Series were out of luck because the ESPN networks have been temporarily removed from the YouTube channel offerings. If the dispute between Disney and YouTube is not resolved, invite yourself to a friend's house to watch Dartmouth-Harvard today or take out a free one-week trial with another provider. Find links and information on how to do that HERE.

In the meantime, here's the game you missed last night:

Penn 28, Brown 21

The Quakers ran for 231 of their 453 total yards and limited Brown  to 33 yards on the ground as they improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Ivy League.

James Murphy completed 31-of-44 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears as they fell to 3-4 and 0-4 in the Ivy League before a sparse crowd of 1,458 at Franklin Field.

Trailing 28-18, Brown drove 71 yards to make it a one-touchdown game with 4:19 remaining but never got the ball back. Instead, Penn racked up five first downs in a time-consuming, 11-play drive that ended with a kneel-down at the Brown one on the final play of the game.

EXTRA POINT

Heading down to Cambridge Allston in a bit and don't expect to get home until 11 p.m. or so. It's going to be a long day for Griff the Wonder Dog, but the old guy is a hero. He'll hold it until we get home, rush out the door as soon as we open it, take care of his immediate business, and then rush back inside for his dinner. Only then will he ask to go back out and get down to more serious business.

Griff the Wonder Dog on the trail earlier this week!
