Check It Out

With winter conditioning and mat drills in the books, spring football practice is slated to kick off at Dartmouth tomorrow. If you've been following along and wonder why players put in all that work for 10 Saturdays (or a Friday or two) the 2008 documentary 8 Ivy League Football and America may help you understand. While the flick itself is not online, this trailer for the film will give you a taste:

Editor's Note: I have a copy of the full film and have seen this trailer a bunch of times and I still find it entertaining. I think you will as well.

The full documentary is available for purchase online with a little Googling. You can find a copy on eBay HERE.

Looking ahead to next fall, I stumbled across this ridiculous ad suggesting that just 16 tickets remain for the Dartmouth football game at New Hampshire on Sept. 16 and only 40 remain for the Oct. 28 game at Harvard:

Don't be fooled. You'll be able to walk up to the gate and buy tickets for both games right up until kickoff – and won't have to pay any broker fees. Promise. Don't take the bait.

A reminder that BGA Premium will have in-person coverage of every spring football practice starting tomorrow evening. Again, if you've forgotten your password, click on the word Forgot on the login page to re-set it.

EXTRA POINT
It was 23 degrees when I let Griff the Wonder Dog out this morning and although the hourly forecast suggests there's a chance of snow showers in the next hour here in our little Vermont town, I'm going to take a chance. I'm going to take a snow stick down in a few minutes and put it away for the season. Sure, we may still get an inch or two of the white stuff before winter lets go, but I've made an executive decision that there will be no more accumulating snow. I just hope Mother Nature cooperates.
