Catching Up With Casey

Last week this space posted all of the Ivy League’s draft picks since the IA-IAA split in 1978, and the most recent name on the list from Dartmouth was that of tight end-turned-H-back Casey Cramer ’04. Whatever became of him?

In an interesting accident of timing, the Dayton Daily News posted this story earlier today:

Read about Cramer’s transition from six-year NFL journeyman to life as a pastor and eventually establishing his own church HERE.

For a little more about Cramer, read his bio on the leadership page of his King’s Cross Community church bio HERE.

It’s been two decade since a Dartmouth player had his phone ring during the draft. Who will be the next one to get the call? The Draft scout website lists two Big Green players among the top four Ivy League prospects for a year from now. Tight end Chris Corbo is ranked third among potential Ivy pros, and safety Sean Williams is ranked fourth. (LINK)

The top-rated prospect for a year from now is Harvard safety Ty Bartrum with Crimson QB Jaden Craig second.

As for the 2025 draft, the site has two Dartmouth players on its list of 24 players, but neither will be waiting for a call. Defensive lineman Ejike Adele, the sixth-ranked prospect, will play next fall at Rice as a grad transfer, and wide receiver Paxton Scott, ranked 13th, is hanging up his spikes in favor of a career in finance.

The top three Ivy prospects this year per Draft Scout:

Brown tight end Mark Mahoney

Cornell quarterback Jameson Wang

Penn safety Shiloh Means

BGA OT will have a brief story tonight HERE touching on a few leftovers from Tuesday’s piece about the first day of spring football.

Dartmouth sport publicity had an interview with head coach Sammy McCorkle after that practice. Access the video by clicking the photo below:

EXTRA POINT

A sign that spring is on its way: During my hike yesterday, one of the commercials on the podcast I listened to on the trail had to do with boating safety.

A sign that spring still has a way to go in these parts: While I was listening to that commercial I was being very careful where I put my feet because mine were the first footsteps in two inches of newly fallen snow.

Best sign of spring: The Masters teed off this morning. I still sometimes have to pinch myself that a newspaper whose sports department has been all-but-eliminated twice footed the bill to send me to Augusta National to cover the tournament in person.
