Coverage of Dartmouth's first spring football practice went up on BGA Overtime last night and included names of two players who will be back next fall as fifth-year seniors. Head coach Sammy McCorkle told OT the most pressing issues for the offense and the defense in the spring. The piece explains why McCorkle believes coaching turnover since last year isn't a bad thing, notes a surprising (?) choice as tight ends coach, which coaching position still needs to be filled, and why McCorkle was just fine opening spring ball indoors instead of in the stadium. And no, it's not just because it started to snow during the practice. ;-)

EXTRA POINT
At some point during its hour-or-so run each morning, Robo, our robotic vacuum cleaner, turns off its noisy suction and quietly begins the trek back to its base. It's a lower-tech model so it doesn't recognize the shortest distance between two points. Instead, it crawls along walls heading in the right direction, gently feeling its way around all the various impediments along the way, until ending up directly opposite its base. It then zips straight for home before slowing dramatically about two feet from the base and then sliding ever-so-carefully into place. I could watch the last minute or two of that dance every day and still be entertained – although Griff the Wonder Dog is not a fan. ;-)
