100 Days

While it's still spring,  it’s only 100 days until the first of the handful of FCS football games that kick off the 2025 season on Aug. 25 – and a former Dartmouth player will be on the field that day.

Defensive lineman Derrell Porter will be in a UC Davis uniform in Montgomery, Ala., for the season-opener at Mercer.

Porter and running back Q Jones are the two former Dartmouth teammates listed included in the “Honorable Mention” category of a HERO Sports posting headlined Best 2025 FCS-to-FCS Transfers.

Making Top 15 cut as impactful transfers were two former Ivy Leaguers, two Fordham players Dartmouth had expected to see last fall, and one more it might have faced if the Big Green played more Patriot League teams. Listed in order of ranking among the top FCS-FCS tranfers:

11. Jacob Psyk (DL) Harvard to UC Davis

7. Luke Banbury (LB) Cornell to William & Mary

6. Nahil Perkins (CB) Fordham to Samford

2. Julius Loughridge (RB) Fordham to South Dakota State

1. Jamar Curtis (RB) Lafayette to Sac State

EXTRA POINT

Our internet is out this morning so Im stuck using a hotspot. I had hoped a local company that finally ran fiber up our road would provide service that would reduce outages and increase internet speed compared to our DSL service. Unfortunately, the company offering fiber service requires the user to run a pull string from the road to their house in order to connect the drop line to the nearest public utility pole. That would mean running the string through an exiting conduit to our detached garage, and then somehow back underground into another conduit to our house. When I touched base with the company to see if they had someone who could handle that aspect for a price, they punted and suggested contractors who would come in and excavate for a whole new conduit, which would be ridiculous since theres already a conduit in place. That’s the long way around to saying were left out in the cold with regard to fiber, so comparatively slow DSL and the occasional hotspot it will have to be.
