Saunier burst on the scene when he completed a season-high 20-of-34 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns and ran 12 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Big Green to its dramatic, 44-43 comeback win at Yale.
When the Bulldogs head up to Hanover looking for retribution this fall, they will be without Grant Jordan, the quarterback who grad transferred to UMass. But Yale will have a familiar name behind center.
News broke Friday that highly regarded Dante Reno is transferring from South Carolina to Yale, where he will play under head coach Tony Reno, who just-so-happens to be his father. The younger Reno was a three-star recruit out of Connecticut’s Cheshire Academy. He appeared in just one game as a freshman at South Carolina, which he chose over a who’s who of offers from Ole Miss, Iowa, Arizona, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Louisville, Wake Forest, Iowa State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia, UConn and UMass, among others.
Green Alert Take: There has been some “woe-is-me” on the message boards among Yale fans with a prized QB recruit changing his mind, and one of last year’s two reserves transferring to Ball State. Although Brogan McCaughey showed flashes in two games last fall, it’s a fair bet there will be one Reno heading up the team, and another heading up the huddle for the Bulldogs this year.

EXTRA POINT
When I woke up for the first time this morning I initially thought it was time to rise and shine. Turns out it was 4:35 a.m.
A look at the sunrise-sunset website just now revealed “first light” this morning was at 4:29, and official sunrise at 5:03. No surprise Griff the Wonder Dog barely raised an eyelid and went right back to sleep when he heard me rustling instead of asking to go out, and have his breakfast as he does each morning when I climb out of bed.
