The Hits Just Keep Coming

Quinn Enguita is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive end/tight end from Bishop Verot High School in Florida. Also a hurdler and wrestler, he previously attended South Fort Myers High School. Find his commitment Xweet HERE.

From a news report prior to his transfer a year ago:

"At South Fort Myers last year, the defensive end made 60 tackles — 22 for a loss — and six sacks. He also scored a touchdown on a 95-yard reception for the Wolfpack."

The 2026 National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Ballot has been released and four Ivy Leaguers are included. Here are their career capsules (LINK):

Keith Elias, Princeton-Running Back-Two-time First Team All-American (1992-93) and 1993 Ivy League Player of the Year…Princeton's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,208) and rushing touchdowns (49)…Three-time All-Ivy performer who helped the Tigers to the 1992 conference title.

Carl Morris, Harvard-Wide Receiver-2002 First Team All-American who holds virtually every Harvard receiving record, including career receptions (245) and TD receptions (28)…Ranks third all-time in Ivy history with 3,508 career receiving yards…Holds Ivy record for career 100-yard games (15) and 200-yard games (3).

Martin Peterson, Pennsylvania-Offensive Tackle-Named First Team All-America, First Team All-Conference and First Team All-ECAC in 1986…His teams won three conference titles.

John Zanieski, Yale-Middle Guard-Named First Team All-American and First Team All-Ivy League in 1984…Selected as the team's MVP in 1984…Finished second on school's quarterback sack list with 21.

Green Alert Take: I’ve written this in previous years but it’s always tough to see Keith Elias on the ballot without Dartmouth quarterback Jay Fiedler, but the Hall rules are inflexible. To be eligible you have to have earned "first-team all-American recognition by a selector recognized by the NCAA,” and that’s not on Fiedler’s resume. One issue is that there are fewer quarterback slots than running back slots on traditional all-America teams. Knowing how much Elias always respected Fiedler, I’m pretty sure he would agree that the QB he did battle with in three epic years is deserving.

No Ivy League coach is on the ballot, although it’s only a matter of time until Harvard’s Tim Murphy and Penn/Columbia’s Al Bagnoli make the ballot and skate in. To be eligible a coach must have a winning percentage of at least .600. Murphy’s percentage i .633 and Bagnoli .667.

On this year’s ballot is former Colgate coach Dick Biddle, whose win percentage was .652.

Green Alert Take: If I’m the NFF I would institute a new category for contributors to the game. Taking over moribund programs contributed mightily to Buddy Teevens’ .459 winning percentage, but his contributions to college football are immeasurable and Hall of Fame worthy.

EXTRA POINT

I can’t mow part of my field because it hasn’t dried out since the snow melted. Here’s part of the reason why: "Vermont has seen just two precipitation-free Saturdays so far in 2025 — March 22 and January 25.”

The other reason why? It isn’t just Saturdays that have been wet. (LINK)
