Back a few years ago I used to spend a lot of time mentoring sportswriters for the Daily Dartmouth and I enjoyed it greatly. Some have gone on to successful careers in journalism like Brad Parks of the Newark Star-Ledger and Elliot Olshansky of CSTV. Others, like lawyer Chuck Young, tried journalism for a while and then wised up. One of the things I always used to to encourage the writers to do was more feature/profile work and fewer stories about games that took place three or four days earlier. Today's D has one such feature on hurdler-slash-football player Ikechi Ogbonna. Just a handful of workmen were in the stands late Monday morning dismantling the aluminum plank seating ...
... but they were keeping busy
Buddy Teevens might want to see if this guy has any eligibility left.
Excavation work is taking place down the right-field line of Red Rolfe Field but the baseball field is supposed to be ready to go for the scheduled home opener.
The tunnel under the visiting stands that used to run from the parking lot behind Alumni Gym to Leverone Fieldhouse was losing yardage in a hurry this morning.
