Fiedler Aids Fight Against Cystic Fibrosis

Former Dartmouth quarterback Jay Fiedler helped raise $200,000 to benefit children with cystic fibrosis. ... I was told the Dartmouth spring football prospectus was due back from the printer's today. I expect it to be up on the Web before long, so stay tuned. In the meantime, for those of you who need your spring football fix, the Colgate prospectus can be found here. (It's a PDF file, so be ready.) ... A couple of new coaches are on board for Princeton's spring practice. ... Holy Cross has formally introduced its recruiting class. ... A columnist for the Harvard Crimson takes a look at the Duke lacrosse scandal. Writes the columnist: "... Duke and schools like it (i.e. Harvard) are not supposed to have problems like this, and this scenario forces everyone to evaluate the chance that such an event could occur on our own campus." ...

Dartmouth football fans may not realize it, but Memorial Field's old East stands cast a lengthy shadow over Red Rolfe Field, home of the Big Green baseball team. The shadows usually helped keep snow on the field long after the sun had melted it elsewhere. Well, with the stands as low as they now are, the shadows aren't even reaching Red Rolfe this spring. The irony? It doesn't matter. For the first time in a long time, the field was clear of snow by mid-March. By next spring the three-story Varsity House being built in the footprint of the old stands will throw Red Rolfe back in the shadows. What do you want to bet there's a good two feet of snow on the ground at the end of March next spring?
