Week One opponent Colgate has been chosen as the preseason favorite to win the Patriot League championship. Sophomore tailback Jordan Scott (who carried just three times for 40 yards in last year's game in Hanover) has been chosen the league's preseason offensive player of the year while teammate Geoff Bean, a safety, has been chosen the league's preseason defensive player of the year. (With Week Two foe UNH being picked by some publications to win the national championship, Dartmouth will have its hands full getting a win prior to the Ivy opener against Penn in Week Three.)
Holy Cross, Dartmouth's opponent in Week Five, was chosen fourth in a league where the top two or three teams are usually very good and the talent level generally falls off after that. Colgate, by the way, reports to camp this Sunday.
Patriot League Poll (with total points and first-place votes):
1. Colgate 68 (8)
2. Lafayette 61 (3)
3. Lehigh 57 (3)
4. Holy Cross 35
5. Fordham 33
6. Bucknell 27
7. Georgetown 13
Penn is the latest school to put its media guide up for downloading. You can find it here.
This is kind of fun. I stumbled across a list of Dartmouth alums in TV and film. There are a few names missing (former defensive back Brian White is one) but if you are curious, click here.
