The New Haven Register notes that four teams received first-place votes in what might be a "wide-open" race. ... Brown coach Phil Estes tells the Providence Journal that this is a new year for the defending Ivy League champions. ... The Boston Globe notes Harvard has been picked No. 1 in the Ivy and that QB Liam O'Hagan has been suspended for five games for violating unspecified team rules. (In case you are wondering, Dartmouth is Harvard's seventh game of the season.)

Dartmouth co-captain Mike Rabil gets a quick mention in this story about players from his area playing football at Ivy League schools. ... Casey Cramer made a nice TD reception yesterday for the Carolina Panthers and was on the receiving end of an early camp practical joke. ...

The Sports Network previews the Patriot League and, no surprise, picks Colgate to win. Dartmouth opponent Holy Cross is chosen fifth in the seven-team league. ...

Outside of the world of sports, The Dartmouth has a story and a picture (of the Clydesdales) from the Busch wedding in Hanover Saturday and a piece about the fraternity investigation that has been suspended.

LATER TODAY ON GREEN ALERT: Opponent previews begin with a comprehensive look at defending champion Brown.
