Oklahoma OK with Dartmouth

NOTE: The "New Opponent Poll" will close at midnight tonight, so be sure to cast your ballot. (There have been enough votes cast that a new poll will begin tomorrow.)

As of 8 a.m., Tuesday, the voting for a suggested new opponent stood this way:

  • San Diego 39%
  • A IA team 22%
  • Montana 14%
  • Georgetown 14%
  • Elon 6%
  • Stony Brook 3%
  • No Change 3%
Another commit to add to the growing list on the eve of National Signing Day is strong safety/wide reciever Robbie Krattiger of Norman North High School in Oklahoma, one of Dartmouth's new recruiting hotbeds.

Krattiger is listed as a Dartmouth commit in the NewsOK.com site, as is linebacker Chance Robbins of Jenks. Muskogee's Jonathan Moore, a 5-10, 180 defensive back/wide receiver is reported on the site to be choosing between Dartmouth and Southern Nazarene University. Those two or three Oklahomans will join freshman tailback Rob Mitchelson on the Big Green roster next fall.

For a picture of Krattiger, click here.

Krattiger is variously listed between 5-foot-10 and 6-1, and between 185 and 200, depending on which web site you choose to believe. Several recruiting sites have him with a 4.6 or 4.62 time in the 40. Rivals mentioned Colorado State, Northern Illinois and SMU in conjunction with Krattiger as a wide receiver.

So you know, I've received names of a handful of additional commits from subscribers, but out of respect to the student-athletes, the Green Alert policy is not to post those names until 1) their college choice is reported in the "mainstream media;" 2) the recruit (or his family) shares that information directly with Green Alert, or finally 3) the college releases the recruit list in the spring. Try as I might, I can't find every link to confirmed commits, so if you see a link I missed, please send it along.

From the Dartmouth Classic track meet Saturday at Leverone ...

In the individual competitions, freshman defensive back Pete Pidermann won the hurdles in 8.50 seconds and finished second in the 200 meters in 23.09. Classmate and fellow defensive back Niles Murphy was third in the 200 in 24.84.

In the 60-meter dash, junior wide receiver Brian Evans was second in 7.08 seconds with junior defensive back John Manning seventh in 7.33. (Evans ran 7.07 in qualifying for the finals while Manning ran 7.29.) Failing to make the finals in the 60 were Mitchelson in 7.30 and Murphy in 7.44.

A look at the record book: Evans came into the winter with a PR of 6.92 in the 60. That's tied with former defensive back Richard Efem for third on the all-time Dartmouth list behind Olympic decathlon hopeful Mustafa Abdur-Rahim '04, and former tailback Ikechi Ogbonna '06, who both ran 6.90. ... Pidermann earlier this winter ran 8.48 in the hurdles, narrowly missing breaking into the top five in Dartmouth history in the event.

(That certain Hanover High freshman's time in the 3000 at Friday night's New Hampshire high school states would have put her 13th of 21 runners Saturday afternoon in the college meet ;-)

For those of you who are looking to make conversation around the water cooler (or better yet, to lift it above your head and drain it down the gullet), you'll want to know Dartmouth is banning pong and why. Um, that's water pong. Monday's Daily Dartmouth has the story and former Big Green golfer Kenan Yount '06 responds with an opinion piece today.
