The new poll is up on the right. Apart from Dartmouth Moose, these are all names I've floated on occasion. Most of them play off Dartmouth's outdoor-hiking image. When you have the Appalachian Trail going through your campus and the nation's oldest collegiate outing club that shouldn't be a surprise. I didn't include a "none of the above" because I'm a big believer that something should be chosen and I'm not going to let you off the hook that easily. If you've got another name you'd like to suggest, click the comment button and send it along.
Here's the final tally on last week's poll. No real surprise to me. I figured Harvard and Princeton would be the top two in some order with Brown at the bottom. I go back and forth on this, but my list would be:
1. Harvard Stadium (tradition, location and classic style)
2. Princeton Stadium (lacking only in tradition)
3. Franklin Field (It's not in the best shape and I take points away for access and parking issues, but the double deck is neat and there's sooo much history.)
4. Schoellkopf Field (The Crescent is wonderful but the other side is sorely lacking.)
5. Yale Bowl (Despite the efforts to fix it up, nothing can be done about the distance to the field and like Franklin Field, it's just too big. Tailgating opportunities are among the best in the league.)
6. Wien Stadium (It's fine but apart from the wonderful views from high on the home side, it doesn't have anything that jumps out at you. And don't even bring up parking.)
7. Brown Stadium (I like the hedges but not much else.)
Where would Dartmouth fit in? Good question. I'm going to give Memorial Field a pass until the renovations are complete.
