Here And There

As it stands right now, when Dartmouth opens at Colgate next fall, the Raiders will have eight starters back on offense. If spring football is any indication, one of those starters will be nonpareil tailback Jordan Scott, who had legal issues during the winter. With Scott on the field with the Raiders this spring, the Utica Dispatch offers up this quote from Colgate coach Dick Biddle:
We’re just waiting for it to go through the legal process, and when that’s done we’ll see what happens. He’s in school. Hopefully, this gets resolved.
More from the Utica paper:
If Scott returns to his 2007 form this fall, Biddle’s Raiders could be the class of the Patriot League. The Raiders return 16 starters from last year’s 7-4 team that was in contention for the league title through the final weekend. Scott rushed for 1,875 yards and 20 touchdowns a year ago ...
Harvard will have four fifth-year seniors next fall including quarterback Chris Pizzotti, the All-Ivy first-team QB last fall and Harvard's MVP. That from a Harvard Crimson story on fifth-year athletes at the school that includes these notes:
The appearance of fifth-year athletes is especially noticeable on the Crimson football team, which has averaged about 2.5 super-seniors each year over the course of Head Coach Tim Murphy’s 15-year tenure.

This number greatly overshadows that of most other Harvard sports, such as women’s basketball, which has only had one fifth-year athlete in 26 years, or baseball, which can also claim only a single extra-year athlete over the course of 13 years.
Yale held a "Pro Day," for players hoping to continue their football careers after college. The Yale Daily reports that Jeff Monaco (6-4, 290 OL), Langston Johnson (6-2, 235 TE), Brandt Hollander (6-3, 280 DL), Nick Solakian (6-3, 220 DB) worked out for scouts from the New England Patriots, the Washington Redskins and the ... drum roll ... Connecticut Giants minor league team.

The Yale Daily also has an overview of record-setting admissions rates across the Ivy League. A look at the individual school papers adds the following numbers to those posted yesterday:
