I haven't seen the new football movie Leatherheads, but probably will. In case you are wondering, here's a one-sentence synopsis from a Buffalo News review that notes the Ivy League tie-in: "A war and football hero from Princeton is recruited by pro football scamps to save them from disappearing."
Tucked between the opening of Leatherheads and the April 24 debut of the documentary Eight: Ivy League Football and America there's ... spring football. In addition to the Ivies that had already started Brown has now hit the field. A sports information blurb down in Providence reports there's, "Reason for optimism as Brown kicks off practice."
Over in Ithaca (the temptation is to say, "Up in Ithaca," but that's not accurate) things get going today for Cornell.
Among out-of-league opponents, New Hampshire will ramp up the search for the next Ricky Santos on Tuesday.
Holy Cross, meanwhile, is in its second week of spring ball.
Dartmouth, of course, starts one week from Monday. The practice schedule in Hanover, with weekday sessions slated to start at 4:45:
