Cornell's game notes for Saturday have been posted here. ... The Cornell website has a mention that says video of the game will be freely available. (Italics are mine.) I'm a little confused on how to navigate the Cornell site because as you move your mouse things appear and disappear, but here's what the note says:
ITHACA, N.Y. — A rivalry that features such classic contests as the legendary “Fifth Down Game” and 39 games decided by a touchdown or less will be renewed when Cornell and Dartmouth square off on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field. The game can be heard locally on WHCU 870 AM with Barry Leonard on the call, or at www.CornellBigRed.com as part of the RedCast subscription service. Video of the contest will also be available at no charge on IBNSports.com.A couple of postings on the Internet suggest Brown is in great shape in the Ivy League race, not only because it is 4-0, but because of its remaining schedule. The Sports Network writes:
The Bears got past one huge obstacle on Saturday when they defeated Penn at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Should Brown beat Yale next Saturday at home, only a pair of wins against Ivy League bottom-feeders Dartmouth and Columbia will stand in the Bears' way.And the Daily Pennsylvanian blog echoes the thought:
The Bears (4-0) now have a commanding Ivy lead that they probably won’t relinquish since they finish with Yale, then doormats Columbia and Dartmouth.Bottom-feeder. Doormat. Ouch. And ouch.
The Sports Network roundup, by the way, includes this about another Dartmouth opponent:
Colgate has long held a reputation for being able to close out games with its bruising running attack.Do you think?
Just got emailed a link to a Newsday story about former Dartmouth/Cincinnati Bengals star Reggie Williams' fight to save his right leg. The site includes a picture that shows just how bad the knee looks as well as a video entitled Reggie Williams' Journey. The video is of an NFL Network segment and runs 9:52. It's well-worth watching.
Two more things. First, check back in a bit for a few more photos from the Dartmouth baseball field construction.
And second, that certain Hanover High freshman enjoyed the highlight of his football season yesterday. Although he's always been a big hitter, his coaches haven't used him on defense this fall, I suspect because they think he's just too small. (If they'd seen him play when he was younger they'd think differently, alas ...) Well, he finally got on the field for a defensive series for the first time at the jayvee jamboree in southern New Hampshire yesterday and snuffed out a rally to save one of the team's mini-game wins by making a diving interception. If he switches to golf next fall, as he well might, he's leaving on a high note.
