Signing Day

It doesn't happen all that often, but it does happen that student-athletes rethink their decision to attend an Ivy League school around Signing Day. Such is the case with a Texas quarterback who is weighing his options after originally declaring for Dartmouth. From the Austin American-Statesman:
A day before signing day, Stony Point senior Nyk McKissic has de-committed from Dartmouth. Ramona McKissic, Nyk’s mother, confirmed the news this afternoon.
McKissic verbally committed to the Big Green last week but has decided to open back up the recruiting process and while it is unclear what schools he is looking at it is believed that Northern Iowa and Dartmouth are in the mix. McKissic hopes to make a decision in the next two weeks.
In advance of Signing Day, Chuck Burton over at Lehigh Football Nation has a compilation of Patriot League commitments. There aren't many names of players who supposedly were interested in Dartmouth, but there are a few that are familiar.

The Yale Daily News has a rambling piece about Ivy League basketball recruiting that includes a brief look at the Academic Index and a reprise of how Harvard coach Tommy Amaker's freshman class this year came together.

The Daily Dartmouth has an interview with Dean of the College Tom Crady reporting that the search for a replacement for retiring athletic director Josie Harper will not start until the end of summer and that a still-unnamed interim AD will oversee the department until a new hire is made. From The D: "Crady said that it was important to wait until the College appointed a new president, so that he or she can have input in the process."

The local daily reported today that there despite the current economic climate and the need to trim the Dartmouth athletic budget, there will be no varsity teams cut. ...

While introducing a rant against Princeton basketball, a Harvard Crimson columnist comes clean. From the story:
Since Nov. 22, something has been missing in my life.

After two glorious months, my weekly ritual of abusing my column-writing privileges by ripping Dartmouth’s football team for its self-loathing, doormat style of play came to a close on that date. With the end of the Ivy League season, I was left with no contemptible Ancient Eight athletic program to unleash my misguided fury and disgust upon.

That was until I found the Princeton men’s basketball team.
And finally, it is Signing Day and, as I've said before, I can't find 'em all. If there's something of interest in your local paper and you can find a link, email me. If it's in your paper but not on the web, email me the details and I'll do the digging. Thanks for the help.
