Ivy League Roundup

The Ivy League went 3-5 in its first weekend of play including 3-2 against Patriot League teams. The roundup:

Stony Brook 21, Brown 20
Stony Brook gets a 10-yard touchdown pass with 47 seconds left to win the game. The Bears, who missed an extra point, had a chance to win at the end but a 40-yard field goal attempt at the gun was wide right. New Brown quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero goes 29-for-45 for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

Columbia 40, Fordham 28
Milli Olawale threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more and Columbia picked off three passes incuding one for a touchdown that put the game on ice.

Cornell 33, Bucknell 9
Ben Ganter completed 17-of-25 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start for the Big Red. Cornell took control in the second period when Bryan Walters scored on a 30-yard pass from Ganter and Stephen Liuzza broke off a 65-yard run.

Holy Cross 27, Harvard 20
Dominic Randolph completed 25-o-39 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns and ran for one for the No. 23 Crusaders while Harvard quarterback Collier Winters was 22-for-37 for 195 yards for the No. 25 Crimson.

Villanova 14, Penn 3
The second-ranked Wildcats returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for the score and went on to posted six sacks. Penn's leading rusher was Michael DiMaggio, who managed just 27 yards on 12 carries.

The Citadel 38, Princeton 7
The Bulldogs scored the game's final 21 points over the final 10:01 to break open a relatively close game. New quarterback Tommy Wornham was 24-for-41 for 198 yards for Princeton but star tailback Jordan Culbreath was held to 67 yards on the ground.

Yale 31, Georgetown 10
Georgetown outgained Yale, 355-303, but managed just 23 yards rushing against the Elis. Patrick Witt was 22-of-27 for 216 yards while helping new coach Tom Williams win his first game at Yale.
