On the down side, it's probably not a good thing when two running backs from the other team and a quarterback who did most of his damage on the ground are honored by the league. Named Ivy League rookie of the week was freshman quarterback Billy Ragone (62 yards rushing on nine carries, 3-for-3 passing) and chosen to the honor roll were Penn tailbacks Lyle Marsh (23 carries for 120 yards) and Bradford Blackman (four carries for 70 yards, 166 all-purpose yards). Ragone was lost for the season in the second half of Saturday's game with a broken collarbone.
Whether or not you agree with a columnist for the Daily Dartmouth who suggests the Big Green should go to the triple-option offense, it's hard to get past this fact the writer worked up: Dartmouth has lost 90 of its last 113 games.
CORRECTION: The numbers in the Daily Dartmouth were off. It's bad, but not quite that bad. Dartmouth is actually 23-89 over its last 112 games.

The Yale Daily News reports that as cost-cutting measures ...
... (M)ost Yale teams will have to stay within a region defined by Washington to the south and Pittsburgh to the west... . Teams traveling out of this region will be able to do so only for championships and guaranteed games — games in which another school pays Yale to play, such as in the men’s basketball team’s upcoming trip to Colorado. ...Former Dartmouth coach John Lyons, who combined coaching in NFL Europe while it still existed with his duties as coach/athletic director at nearby Kimball Union Academy, once again has his prep school off to a good start. The Wildcats are 2-0 after bolting out to a 41-0 halftime lead in their most recent game. They've outscored two opponents this year, 68-15.
In the spring, sports team will be allowed to go as far south as Virginia, but only the tennis, golf, softball and baseball teams will be allowed to travel to Florida. Trips that were previously about two weeks long will be cut down to eight days.
More news on the administrative side at Dartmouth as Provost Barry Scherr, who had agreed to postpone his retirement, now says he will step down once college President Jim Yong Kim names an interim replacement. The Daily Dartmouth has a story.
The Daily D also has a piece on the completion of the Extreme Makeover home in neighboring Lyme, and the role Dartmouth students played in the project.
Sign of the Apocalypse (with thanks to a regular reader and apologies to Sports Illustrated): IvySport is now offering a "hunter green" bow tie made in honor of Jeff Orleans, who retired last spring after 25 years as executive director of the Ivy League. For a limited time, you can get this $29.95 value for $23.96.
Extra Point
Enjoy the bow tie but you are not allowed to wear it to the NCAA football playoffs.
