Elsewhere In Coaching ...

No word on the fate of the former Dartmouth assistants on the coaching staff at Princeton but good news for 2001-03 Big Green assistant Bill Polin at Richmond. Polin, who helped guide the Spiders to the national championship in 2008, has been retained by new head coach Latrell Scott after former coach Mike London left Richmond to take over for Al Groh at Virginia. For the Richmond release mentioning Polin, click here. For Polin's Richmond bio, click here.

Former Dartmouth assistant Tom Gilmore, who enjoyed another successful year running the show at Holy Cross, is a finalist for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award.

A 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver/safety from Nazareth, Pa., has Dartmouth on his radar. Danny Wilk caught 43 passes for 439 yards and seven touchdowns this fall. He also returned two kickoffs for TDs while averaging 32.6 yards per attempt. Wilk told the Morning Call: "I'm looking at Penn, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Colgate and Bucknell."

And finally, a regular reader follows up on yesterday's posting about Bob Blackman's 1970 Dartmouth team winning the Lambert Trophy with a link to Sports Illustrated's 1962 story about Blackman headlined, "Master In The Ivy's Den Of Virility." The drophead of the story that today will make some people cringe: "Bob Blackman led Dartmouth to an undefeated season—and the 'animals' from Hanover loved it."
