Saturday Stuff

Players stretch at the start of the Buddy Teevens Football Camp at Dartmouth's Memorial Field earlier this week.

The top three returning tight ends in the Ivy League according to the Roar Lions Roar Columbia football blog:
1. Andrew Kennedy, Columbia
2. Luke Nawrocki, Penn
3. Alex Prestley, Brown
Dartmouth's John Gallagher gets a little love in the piece with a mention of his receiving numbers last year. Green Alert Take: The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Gallagher has the talent to be recognized at the top of that list before he's through.

The Brown Bear Blogger has a posting headlined, Offensive Production from Players We Aren’t Talking Much About and the Dartmouth player mentioned is ...

Greg Patton. The post says:
While all attention has been on Connor Kempe and incoming frosh media sensation Cole Marcoux, Patton is a dual threat quarterback who rushed for more yards than anyone but Schwieger and had the highest passer rating and completion percentage of the staff QB’s.
Green Alert Take: Patton is perhaps the biggest X-factor on the Dartmouth offense this fall. It will be interesting to see how new offensive coordinator Jim Pry uses a truly multidimensional player who was orginally expected to be a defensive back for the Big Green.

It won't be ready for this football season, but the new hotel in Hanover, Six South Street, is coming along. I'm not a Facebook person but those of us who are holdouts from that social media can still access the hotel's Facebook page here. The page describes the new hotel this way:
This 69 room Boutique Hotel is nestled in the center of beautiful Hanover. Walking distance to a dozen restaurants and shopping. 2 blocks away is the Dartmouth Green.
Sounds like an advertisement. Hmmm. Maybe that's a good idea ;-)

And finally, That Certain Hanover High Junior-to-Be leaves for Penn State golf camp at 6 tomorrow morning. I checked the forecast for the week ahead in Happy Valley and it is supposed to be in the low 90's. Yikes. I spent part of one summer during grad school at Penn State and when the mercury rises out there ... stuffy doesn't do it justice.

Speaking of which, it was almost achingly beautiful here in the Upper Valley yesterday. Cloudless, azure sky. Temperature here on the mountain in the high 60's. A gentle and refreshing breeze. You should have been here!
