“It’s very competitive in the league every year. Historically, we have one of the most challenging non-conference schedules every year. It’s a challenge to be prepared.”To be fair, he probably should have said every year "until this one." No disrespect intended, but Bucknell and Sacred Heart are not New Hampshire and Colgate.

The Daily Pennsylvanian's blog The Buzz had a posting with a few fall predictions that included this about the Quakers:The team is returning 15 of its starters — the highest number in the Ancient Eight, according to coach Al Bagnoli. One thing I've learned over the years is to fact-check when coaches say things like that. Coaches, I've discovered, don't follow this kind of stuff anywhere near as closely as the fans and media do.
Don't blame Bagnoli. There are some years when 15 returning starters probably would lead the Ivy League. This isn't one of them.
Whether they will all start this year is yet to be determined, whether they will be playing the same positions will be revealed at Bucknell, and what it all means remains to be played out. All that said, here are the starters returning for Dartmouth this fall as taken straight from the final Dartmouth two-deep of 2009:
1. LT Will MontgomeryTo that you can add ...
2. LG Ryan O'Neill
3. C Austen Fletcher
4. RG Kyle Cook
5. TE John Gallagher
6. QB Conner Kempe
7. H Justin Foley
8. WR Michael Reilly
9. WR Tanner Scott
10. DE Connor Phillips
11. DT Eddie Smith
12. DT Mark Dwyer
13. DE Matt Oh
14. SAM Pat Scorah
15. MIKE Garrett Wymore
16. WILL Diego Fernandez-Soto
17. CB Shawn Abuhoff
18. SS Garrett Waggoner
19. CB JB Andreassi
20. TB Nick Schwieger, the Ivy League rushing leader who missed the second half of the seasonAnd ...
21. PK Foley SchmidtThat's not counting ..
22. P Matt Kelly
23. LS Shane Peterlin
24. Charles Bay, the most dynamic player on defense, who was listed as a backup in last year's finale because he was coming back from injury. Also returning are the holders and starting kickoff/punt returners from the final two-deep.
Again, none of that is to make any bold predictions. It's simple accounting – or maybe counting. ;-)

Brown has posted its version of an electronic media guide here. As someone who runs a pretty simple website and still gets a lot of feedback from alums who have questions about navigating it, I wonder what kind of reaction they will get to Brown's "bold initiative to present its athletic teams in a modern, interactive mode."*

There's a pretty good video interview on the Sacred Heart website in anticipation of the Pioneers' game this week against Robert Morris. (link) Dartmouth plays Sacred Heart in Week 2.*
From the Associated Press: Princeton reprimanded for 'major' tennis violation. There seems to be a disconnect between the headline and this sentence high up in the story (italics are mine):Because of the limited nature of the case and the university's efforts to uncover and report the violation, the NCAA imposed only minimal penalties on the school, among them vacating the student-athlete's athletic records. The Princeton Office of Communications put out this release.
