Brown 29, Harvard 14
Playing before a crowd of 17,360 in the first-ever night game at Brown Stadium the Bears held Harvard to eight first downs and 112 total yards. The final result was a surprise but that kind of domination is an absolute shock.
Yale 21, Cornell 7
Bulldogs scored 14 in the third quarter to break open a tie game but Cornell freshman quarterback Jeff Matthews outdueled Yale's Patrick Witt, completing 18-of-32 passes for 248 yards.
Columbia 24, Towson 10
Towson isn't a very good team but anytime an Ivy League team beats a CAA team it is a very good win. The Lions are playing with fire, though, with quarterback Sean Brackett carrying 17 times.
Villanova 22, Penn 10
Quakers led the No. 1 team in the nation – and defending national champion – with less than five minutes to play. Nominal Penn starting quarterback Keiffer Garton again did not play.
Princeton 36, Lafayette 33, 2 ot
Tigers fought back from 21-10 down midway through the third, hit a field goal with 45 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and then won it on Jordan Culbreath's 2-yard TD run. Culbreath, the best story in college football this year, ran 11 times for 61 yards.
Georgetown 17, Holy Cross 7
Life after Dominic Randolph hasn't been fun for the Crusaders but credit the Hoyas, one of the surprise teams this year.
*
New Hampshire 31, Lehigh 10The Engineers got eight first downs, 129 total yards and deserve a thank you note from Dartmouth for stepping in and taking this year's annual beating by the Wildcats.
Syracuse 42, Colgate 7
Speaking of thank you notes ... . Nate Eachus rushed for 147 yards and Colgate had a 44:26-15:34 advantage in possession time, but 'Cuse broke open a tight game with 28 points in the second half.
