School Pride Squared

Former Dartmouth lineman Evan Nogay was sent to Lanier Elementary School in Baton Rouge as part of the Teach for America program. The school was featured in this premier episode of the NBC show School Pride. If you click and enlarge the photo you can find Dartmouth Class of 2027 written on the board to the right of Evan. Word is that Nogay has been such a positive ambassador of Dartmouth that the kids all want to go there. (Photo courtesy of WTOV -Steubenville(Ohio)/Wheeling(WV).

Harvard coach Tim Murphy in a Boston Herald look at today's game against Dartmouth:
(Dartmouth) is really an outstanding football team. Buddy Teevens and his staff and players deserve a tremendous amount of credit. Not only are they the most improved team in the Ivy League by far, but they’re definitely one of the best teams.

From a Boston Globe preview story that focuses on Harvard running back Gino Gordon:
Gordon is at an eye-popping 7.8 yards per carry. That’s the second-highest average in the nation (behind Jacksonville’s J.J. Laster’s 8.6)

Down at Penn they are giving away bobblehead dolls honoring the late Dan Staffier – "Coach Lake" – as noted in a Philadelphia Sports Daily story. From the story:
The university made about 600 bobbleheads of their beloved spirit coach – naturally featuring not only his red blazer and hat but tape across his forehead with “win” written on it. They will be given out to alumni over the weekend.
