A sign of respect for the Big Green: On the heels of The Sports Network picking Dartmouth to defeat Brown (yesterday's blog) two more prognosticators have given the nod to the home team in tomorrow's game.Although The Harvard Crimson has been one of Dartmouth's harshest critics in recent years, here's what it says about this week's game with Brown:
While both teams have fallen out of title contention, the Big Green can secure its first winning record in 13 years with a win this weekend. And then there's Jake Novak's Roar Lions Roar blog:
At this point in the season, the Big Green has more momentum and more motivation than the Bears do.
PREDICTION: Dartmouth 24, Brown 21.
Brown +3 at Dartmouth
This spread would have been unthinkable just a few weeks ago. But now it seems just about right. I wish I could pick a tie against the spread, because I think the Big Green will indeed win by three points. But I will conform and say Dartmouth will beat the spread here.

Something I realized the other day: For the first time in recent memory (mine, at least) every regular starting quarterback in the Ivy League would appear to be eligible to return next year if they so choose. In addition to Dartmouth junior Conner Kempe ...
- Brown's Kyle Newhall-Caballero is a senior but the 2009 All-Ivy QB should qualify for a medical redshirt after having his season ended in the third game.
- Columbia's Sean Brackett is a sophomore.
- Cornell's Jeff Mathews is a freshman.
- Harvard's Collier Winters is listed as a junior after missing the entire 2008 season with injuries.
- Penn's Billy Ragone is a sophomore while Ryan Becker is a freshman.
- Princeton's Tommy Wornham is a junior.
- Yale's Patrick Witt is a junior.

A Wall Street Journal blog covers Joe Moglia's appointment as new coach of the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League. A former linebackers coach at Dartmouth, Moglia remains a strong supporter of the Big Green football program. Thursday's Green Alert Premium included a piece about the friendship between Moglia and Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens.*
The hot button issue in football these days is the concussion problem and the Daily Dartmouth has a story about the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Sports Concussion program.*
I can't take credit for finding this other than to say I stumbled across the link elsewhere, but there's a short but very cool video clip of three 1945 football games including Holy Cross at Dartmouth from Memorial Field. Do check it out.*
And finally, a photo caption in this morning's paper (italics are mine): "President Obama, third from right, at the G20 conference in South Korea." I thought the fellow in the picture looked a little familiar ;-)
