The Brown Daily Herald story about the Bears' loss to Yale Saturday mentions the team's defensive failures in two areas that happen to be Dartmouth strengths: the return game and the run game. From the story:A pair of second-quarter Yale kickoff returns for touchdowns proved to be the difference on Saturday, as the football team fell to the Bulldogs 27-24 at Brown Stadium. And ...
"We got beat by the run, and it's something we try to not have happen," Estes said. "I think the difference was Thomas and the run game, not so much Witt and the throwing arm."

Sorry for not getting around to the weekly look at Saturday's results until now. Taking back roads on the return trip from my little mom & pop motel turned into a 6 1/2-hour drive yesterday, so to be in town for the noon junior varsity kickoff meant a really early start. So, better late than never, here are the weekend games with the usual comments:Yale 27, Brown 24
Bears outgained the Bulldogs but Yale's Chris Smith had kickoff returns for touchdowns of 83 and 79 yards.
Penn 52, Princeton 10
The Quakers piled up 600 yards of offense – 396 on the ground – after jumping out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.
Harvard 23, Columbia 7
Lions hold up statistically against the Crimson but four turnovers prove costly.
Lehigh 34, Holy Cross 17
Mountain Hawks hold the ball for almost 17 minutes more than Crusaders.
Fordham 33, Bucknell 21
Bison were outrushed, 209-57.
Albany 35, Sacred Heart 23
Pioneers were driving for the potential winning touchdown when Dale Fink's pass was intercepted and returned 54 yards for the clinching TD. Fink threw 61 passes on the day.
