Rhode Island has made it official. The Ram football team will leave the Colonial Athletic Association to join the Northeast Conference starting in 2013. Find a release here. URI athletic director Thorr Bjorn, quoted in the release:"We are always looking at the changing landscape of FCS football. "The NEC offers us a strong regional league who has earned the right to receive an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. Our goal and mission is to ensure a longstanding commitment to FCS football and feel this change in conference affiliation solidifies that desire."
