Pastoors on the Radio

Former Dartmouth safety Tony Pastoors '10 (Dartmouth bio) did a terrific interview with a Minneapolis radio station KFAN after the recent NFL Combine, which he attended in his role as Senior Assistant with the St. Louis Rams.

At the front end of the interview Pastoors offers some interesting thoughts about Dartmouth, about Big Green players from Minnesota and about Ivy League football in general. Click here to listen. (Thanks for the link.)

Last summer BGA featured 10 Questions with Tony Pastoors.

Tony was a prized recruit out of Minnesota who battled injury virtually throughout his career. He was on the verge of a breakout season as a senior only to have a serious illness pop up and sideline him. Click here for a story I freelanced on him.

Pastoors' boss, by the way, is Dartmouth grad Kevin Demoff '99. Find his bio here.

Looking out the window this morning and thinking about my snowshoeing adventure here on the mountain two days ago it's hard to believe the 12 sessions of spring football practice are slated to start three weeks from today, April 5. Penn, by the way, starts spring football tonight.

Dartmouth will open the 2011 season with the final game of its lengthy series against Colgate on Sept. 17. Check out this video (it's off to the right on the page) for an interview with a Colgate offensive lineman talking about the Lift for Life initiative the school will hold next week. Very impressive.

With Colgate and UNH both coming off the schedule, Dartmouth will be playing some new non-conference opponents in coming years. If the Big Green is going to travel, playing in a recruiting hotbed would have certain advantages. Perhaps Dartmouth will give some thought to playing at Stetson, which ...
...has announced the addition of football and is starting the process to join the prestigious Pioneer Football League with the first game in fall 2013.
Stetson is in DeLand, Fla. Click here for the full release.

And finally, you can't make this stuff up. Or you could, but no one would believe it. Here's an actual headline from the New York Daily News:
Manhattan mom sues $19K/yr. preschool for damaging 4-year-old daughter's Ivy League chances
(Thanks for the link. I think ;-)
