A few tidbits from last night's 1,800-word look at the start of Dartmouth football on Big Green Alert premium ...
- Dartmouth has three seniors practicing who will return for a fifth year in the fall: All-Ivy receiver Tim McManus, All-Ivy linebacker Luke Hussey and linebacker Matt Oh.
- McManus is back in red practicing at quarterback and coach Buddy Teevens said that was the plan before Conner Kempe was suspended. According to Teevens McManus will be given every opportunity to win the job.
- Also switching positions, Oh is working this spring at rush end, Jackson Floyd has moved back from the O-line to tight end and Diego Fernandez-Soto has moved from linebacker to nickle/strong safety.
- About 90 players are going through spring drills including a 6-foot-7ish freshman receiver who did not play in the fall but walked on for winter workouts.
- Linebacker Miles Gay, who underwent emergency surgery while studying in Spain over the winter, was at practice although noticeably thinner and not taking part.
- Regarding Kempe, Coach Buddy Teevens said there is no timetable right now for his return.

When asked if he would rather play the season opener against Colgate or the Ivy League opener against Penn under the lights, Teevens said: "We’re talking through it. Doing a couple (night games) would not be a problem for me. It’s a matter of how quickly they get operational and so forth, now that we have the go-ahead. It’s fun. I’m used to playing, in my former life, a bunch of night games. It’s a pretty cool environment.”*
