Newsday Tuesday

Incoming receiver Bo Patterson of James Island (SC) High School is one of players to watch in the Class of 2015 and among those who will have a chance to watch him is his father. John Patterson has stepped down as football coach at James Island and taken a position as athletic director at Campbell High School in Litchfield, N.H., specifically to be able to catch his son's games. From the Post and Courier:
"This is a chance to watch him play football," Patterson said. "I spend about 20 hours a week breaking down film and coming up with gameplan. I can't do both: coach football and watch him play football. I don't have time for both."
Litchfield is about an hour and 45 minutes from Hanover, between Manchester and Nashua.

Former wide receiver Tanner Scott was named to the 2011 USA Seven's Collegiate Rugby Championships all-tournament team. Scott was the second-leading scorer in the event with six trys. Dartmouth won the national championship with a convincing 32-10 win over Army in the final televised nationally by NBC.

Kudos to Dartmouth offensive coordinator Keith Clark and defensive coordinator Don Dobes for volunteering their time to help out at the Lauren's First and Goal football camp that supports the fight against childhood cancer.

And finally, our Green Machine Cal Ripken baseball team finished the regular season last night undefeated for the second year in a row. That despite graduating our two top pitchers, three top batters and half of our lineup to 7th-8th grade baseball after last year's championship season. With the road win over a team that was undefeated in our division we clinched an opening-round bye in the tournament and now kick off the postseason Friday night. Congratulations to a terrific group of kids who play a great game the right way!
