"Tackling Football"

Former Dartmouth offensive coordinator Mike Hodgson has teamed up with a University of Maine professor to write a book entitled, “Tackling Football: A Woman’s Guide to Understanding the College Game.” The Bangor Daily News has a story detailing how the book came about.

The Amazon.com page for the book can be found here.

Hodgson's bio from his days in Hanover can be found here.

Hodgson, by the way, has a new position at the University of Maine. The Bangor paper notes that he has been hired as an assistant athletic director for development at his alma mater. The story says that he "will organize events in conjunction with athletic contests, handle the football team’s charter trips and will be responsible for the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame and its induction dinner and events."

To get a little sense about how camp is going for Week Two opponent Sacred Heart, check out this video. The audio isn't always the best at the start but there's some good information if you stick with it. (You can also get a look at the visiting stands at the Sacred Heart field at the beginning of the video.)

We had another visit by a bear here on the mountain the other night. Our plastic composting barrel and the heavy wooden stand on which it pivots ended up about six feet into the woods. The barrel now has a series of claw marks poking through the plastic. Like the big guys who will invade Memorial Field this week, the bear is getting ready for the season ahead ;-)
