That Hurts

The morning daily, which has been following preparations for Saturday's Vermont-New Hampshire Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl game, reports that incoming Dartmouth freshman running back Cody Patch is questionable for the game after cracking ribs while being tackled during Shrine practice.

A great quote from Yale coach Tom Williams in the Yale Daily News on the new non-contact rules in the Ivy League:
"The presidents of the Ivy like to believe that they are out in front of everyone else. We let them think that. Most all of us have been doing this all along. It will not affect Yale and most other (Ivy League schools) at all."

Headline in a Brown Daily Herald story on the same subject:
Iv League limits full-contact football practices
Bears unaffected by change
*
The Boston Globe mentions the Ivy League initiative in a story headlined:
Heading off problems

Amid concern about long-term effects, the state is requiring public schools to act to reduce concussions among athletes

Today's football trivia courtesy of the Ivy League:
47to56: On Sept. 25, ’65, @PUTigers Charlie Gogolak set the Ivy record for points in game with 20 in a 32-6 win over Rutgers.
The overall record for points in a game since the start of formal Ivy League play is 36 by Penn's Jim Finn, who ran for six touchdowns against Brown in 1998 and went on to play in the NFL.

After a very full three days at Hanover Country Club I snuck out yesterday to kayak around a small lake yesterday and was reminded just how lucky those of us are who live in these parts. It's back to the salt mine today as I (hopefully) close in on finishing a big project before daily BGA opponent previews start up next week.
