Dartmouth has received a commitment from Rivals three-star safety Frankie Hernandez of Belen Jesuit, the school that sent senior defensive backs Diego Fernandez-Soto and Anthony Diblasi to Dartmouth and a host of players to other Ivy League schools in recent years. Former captain Peter Pidermann '10 helped get the Belen pipeline to Dartmouth started.

Find a video of Hernandez' junior year highlights here. Rivals reports that Kansas State was among the schools that "offered" the defensive back. link Hernandez is listed at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds.

Hernandez is the second three-star Rivals commitment Dartmouth has received out of Florida this month. Earlier 6-5 tight end Jack Sheehy of Boca Raton and St. Andrews School gave the nod to Dartmouth. link Sheehy has been ranked the sixth-best tight end in Florida with Boston College, Florida State, UCLA, USF and Virginia Tech among the schools said to have been "in the mix." link

Thanks for this link to a timelapse video of the Homecoming crowd of 14,032 filing in to Cornell's Schoellkopf Field for Saturday's win over Bucknell. It goes on for a bit, but is kind of hypnotizing.

The Portal 31 blog reports that . . .
Yale senior quarterback Patrick Witt received the endorsement from Yale's three-professor panel to continue his pursuit of a Rhodes Scholarship as well as a Mitchell Scholarship.

Colgate tailback Nate Eachus missed the Dartmouth game and it appears he'll be out for this week's contest at Towson. The Sports Network reports.

That Certain Hanover High Grad ran 12 miles Sunday with no pain and is relatively confident her knee issue is a thing of the past. ... Last night Hanover had one of its college information nights for senior families and one of the schools listed on a PowerPoint presentation (or was it Keynote?) was Penn State, which did not go unnoticed by That Certain Hanover High Senior.

It's back to practice this afternoon for Dartmouth and Big Green Alert Premium. With classes beginning this week, practices will begin in late afternoon and go until early evening, which means your daily dose of Dartmouth football will be posted a couple of hours later than it has been so far.

(With AD Harry Sheehy saying he hopes the Big Green can hold three or four night practices before the first night game against Penn the thought here is reports on those sessions might wait until the next morning, depending on how late they go. That's might ;-)

The next BGA podcast will be posted later this morning.
