Prospecting

I've had some fun at the expense of Consensus Draft Services in the past but this time it would seem they got it mostly right from a Dartmouth perspective at least, pegging corner Shawn Abuhoff and offensive lineman Ryan O'Neill as draft prospects. (Thanks for the link.)
Other Ivies mentioned:
Brown - None
Columbia - OL Jeff Adams, LB Marc Holloway (oops, he graduated in the spring)
Cornell - Dempsey Quinn (oops, he graduated in the spring)
Harvard - DT Josue Ortiz, corner Dan Minamide
Penn - linebacker Erik Rask
Princeton - punter Joe Cloud (oops, he's a junior)
Yale - quarterback Patrick Witt, linebacker Jordan Haynes

Heard a little more about the new HD streaming video for Dartmouth football this fall. There will be four cameras, including one at field level. There will, in fact, be instant replays, and stats will be included on the screen. All five home games will be carried, even if the college reaches an agreement to have a game or two broadcast regionally on TV.

Longtime color commentator Wayne Young '72 returns and will be joined for the first time this fall by veteran Dick Lutsk for the broadcasts. Check out the Big Green Insider.

Did the Penn football team Committ to the Effort? Maybe they didd. Check out this linkk.

Week One opponent Colgate has a video interview posted with the Raiders' new starting quarterback Gavin McCarney, who was the school's male athlete of the week for his play against Albany.

From the Brown Daily Herald:
The fencing team has secured over $750,000 to save its varsity program from elimination and is eyeing another $200,000 in promised pledges ...
And ...
The fate of the team will be decided along with that of the men's wrestling and women's skiing teams at the October Corporation meeting.
If you've been around for a while, you know Dartmouth went through much the same thing with its swim programs a while back before they were saved. Find a press release from the announcement that the swim teams would not be cut here. At one point someone with a keen PR sense actually put the team up for sale on eBay for $211,000, a move that brought a significant amount of press coverage to the effort to save the team.

And finally, Dartmouth and Harvard will play a preseason football game of sorts today at Memorial Field.

Be sure to stop by Green Alert Premium tonight for a surprise. And no, barring a change of policy regarding getting into the field, it won't be an eyewitness report. Sorry. What will it be? You'll just have to wait.
