Blast From The Past
Dartmouth recently posted a copy of a 30-minute promotional video of the college from 1956. It's interesting to see the buildings that have remained the same and others that have disappeared. There are clips from football practices and games that last for a minute or two starting at about the 23:20 mark, with a nice closeup of legendary coach Bob Blackman. There's also a bit about the excitement of football weekends in Hanover.
There's probably a little too much talking for today's audience, and it's clear most of those doing the talking weren't actors, but this is a fun – if at times corny – look at the college at another time. Enjoy! (And thanks to a reader for alerting me to the film.)
(While it says it last 37:34 the last seven or so minutes are blank. Click the square to the bottom right of the picture to fill your screen.)
