Star Light, Star Bright

Rivals "star" system is easy to poke holes in, but it's the best we've got. Keeping in mind that Rivals lists aren't even close to complete at this point (although the expectation is that most of the "starred" players have been identified) here's how the Ivy League recruiting stacks up so far regarding "starred" recruits:
  • Dartmouth 10 two-star
  • Yale 1 three-star, 6 two-star
  • Columbia 1 three-star, 3 two-star
  • Princeton 1 three-star, 3 two-star
  • Harvard 4 two-star
  • Penn 4 two-star
  • Brown 3 two-star
  • Cornell 3 two-star

From The Sports Network: In the FCS Huddle: Patriot scholarship decision will affect Ivy
PFL members like Butler (it has a home-and-home with Dartmouth over the next two seasons), Jacksonville, Dayton, Drake, Davidson, Campbell, even Mercer or Stetson when they begin play in 2013, could become more attractive to the Ivies. Such games would satisfy wide-spread alumni and develop more recruiting bases.
Green Alert Take: Well, yes and no. Alums not having to travel will be happy about having an occasional game in their backyard. And it will develop the recruiting base. But overall, it would be surprising if scheduling games against Campbell, Drake, Mercer or Stetson will go over big with the bulk of alums who remember games against Rutgers, UNH, Villanova, Lehigh, Colgate, etc. The guess here is that playing games like that, whether it is right or it is wrong, will be viewed by many as yet another erosion of what the Ivy League once was.
