Wearers Of The Green

What better day than St. Patrick's Day to consider how, when and why green became Dartmouth's color of choice?

The college's Rauner Special Collections Library has the answers – or as close to the answers as anyone. It all dates back to 1866. Or maybe 1877 ;-) Read all about it here.

For what it is worth, back I worked for the college we were always told Dartmouth Green was PMS349. You can read one alum's take on the color wars here.

Um, do you think it's been a pretty good year for two of Lehigh's most prominent sports? First the football team won its second Patriot League title in a row, soared to sixth in the national rankings and then advanced to the third round of the NCAA playoffs.

Last night the Mountain Hawk men's basketball team pulled off one of the most stunning upsets in NCAA Tournament history with a 75-70 win over Duke behind 30 points from guard CJ McCollum, without question the best player on the floor.

Green Alert Take: Boy, having a postseason tournament and seeing the second-place team win it to advance to the tournament was really costly to the Patriot League, huh?
