Odds And Ends

The Associated Press never mentions Dartmouth's search for a new president, but this story explains why landing the right candidate may be easier said than done. Stephen Trachtenberg, a former college president now with a Washington-based higher education executive search firm, told the AP:

“Is it harder to find people who want the jobs? No. Is it harder to find people who deserve to get the jobs? Yes.”

A huge win for recent Dartmouth graduate Peter Williamson on the links. The Pilot writes of the Hanover native's impressive week:

Peter Williamson came to Pinehurst with hopes of establishing his name among the top amateurs in golf.
As the champion of the 112th North and South Amateur, he’s done so much more.
Williamson, the three-time Ivy League champion, capped a brilliant week of golf with a flawless performance in the final match against Clemson’s Thomas Bradshaw, winning 4 & 3 on famed Pinehurst No. 2 to etch his name in the annals of golf history.
Several Ivy schools have debuted redesigned websites in the past couple of weeks. Check out the offerings from Brown,  Harvard and Yale.
