A story in The Dartmouth spun out of the Ivy League media poll that picked the Big Green to finish sixth quotes offensive lineman and tri-captain Pat Lahey:"Of course I don’t agree, but I can see where all the coaches are coming from. Right now, our team is a bunch of no-names, but we’re looking forward to climbing to the top.”(Coaches don't actually vote in the poll. Two media members who cover each school vote.)

A regular reader sent along a link to a piece headlined, 10 high school football stadiums to see before you die. Included among those facilities is the $60 million stadium serving Allen High School in Texas. Check that out here.

An interesting story out of Harvard, which will be the first Ivy League school to sponsor women's rugby according to this release. From Rugby Magazine:There is no indication as yet whether this will help jump-start a move to varsity for other Ivy League women's rugby programs, but the prospect is there, especially since Brown and Dartmouth have accomplished teams, and other Ivy schools have strong traditions.

Good news from The D:Dartmouth raised a record-breaking $171 million in alumni contributions in fiscal year 2012, eclipsing last year’s figure by 16.4 percent, according to an Aug. 10 press release from the College. The Dartmouth College Fund, which raises money on an annual basis, broke its own record with $47 million, compared with last year’s $44.5 million.
