Check It Out

This "pump up" video ought to get your juices flowing . . .

It took some looking around to find a box score from the St. Louis Rams' first exhibition game that included tackles, the likely place to find Nick Schwieger's name because his best chance of making the roster will be as a special teams guy. Alas, his name didn't appear. But according to one source, he did get on the field. From the Examiner:
Nick Schwieger, undrafted from Dartmouth, played sparingly and did not record any statistics.
The first poll by The Sports Network is out and Harvard comes in at No. 25 after finishing last year at 16. If I'm counting correctly (and I may be off by one or two because it is dizzying) Penn came in at No. 48, Holy Cross at 54 and Cornell at 62.

Speaking of Harvard, the Boston Globe had a short piece last week about the Crimson being tapped as the favorite in the media poll.
I've been keeping an eye out somewhere, anywhere for a note about the passing of Bill Wallace, the curmudgeon who covered Yale football for the New York Times for many years. All I have been able to find is a quick note on Portal 31. I can tell you from personal experience that there was always a collective deep breath taken in Hanover when we learned Bill would be covering a game at Memorial Field. It's fair to say he was a little demanding but always very professional in an old-school sort of way. In recent years I enjoyed reading his online commentary, Bullpoop, and to be honest, marveled at how it channeled this site's Optimist and Pessimist ;-).
