Butler Did It

Week One Dartmouth opponent Butler University evened its record at 1-1 last night with a 42-13 win over Division III Franklin College. Quarterback Matt Lancaster, a transfer from Illinois State, had three passing touchdowns and added two more on the ground for the Bulldogs, who piled up 583 yards of total offense.

Lancaster completed 19-of-30 passes for 258 yards and led all ballcarriers with 96 yards on 16 carries. Backup QB Wade Markley came on and completed 9-of-10 throws for 95 yards and another TD. Trae Streeter had 86 yards on 12 carries while Brendan Shannon topped the receiving corps with eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Full box score
Stumbled across a story from the Bartlesville (Okla.) Examiner-Enterprise last winter that took a look back at Kirby Schoenthaler's successful transition from high school quarterback to Dartmouth wide receiver.

Yesterday afternoon Dartmouth football coach Buddy Teevens loaded his upperclassmen into a pair of yellow schoolbusses without telling them where they were going. The destination? The Fore-U golf center in West Lebanon where they had the run of the place, hitting the batting cages, driving buckets of balls, making aces on the miniature golf course (nice job Dominick!) and then topping things off with whipped cream and nuts. A few pictures from a fun afternoon:
