McM III

A thorough Google search didn't turn anything up, but when older brother Timmy '11, a three-time Dartmouth captain, confirms after the Columbia game that Danny McManus has committed to the Big Green, it's a lot safer to believe than Internet chatter ;-)

Danny McManus is listed at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds. Most of his highlight video shows him playing in the secondary, but like Timmy and middle brother Ryan '15, who leads the Big Green with 26 catches this fall, Danny is a dynamic athlete who also makes plays on the offensive side.

From a Pioneer Press story on the latest St. Thomas Academy (7-1) win:
The Cadets' offense was led by Danny McManus and Pat McFadden, who accounted for all four St. Thomas touchdowns. McManus' speed and juking had the South defense tackling shadows, and he scored on a run of 57 yards and a reception of 60 yards.
"Danny is a huge weapon. He didn't leave the field," (STA coach Dave) Ziebarth said. "You haven't seen the last of him this season."
Tim McManus, by the way, will finish up his postbaccalaureate premed program this spring at a school that shall not be named (but will be in town late this week).
Following up on Saturday's dramatic win over Columbia, there's a game story in the Dartmouth.

The Columbia Spectator has a game story and a column, the latter suggesting of Columbia's sagging fortunes, "The team is now 1-5 and spiraling towards another disastrous record."

The Spec also has a postgame video back-and-forth featuring some nice clips from the game:

Jay Greenberg's well-done Princeton Football blog poses a series of questions coming out of the Tigers' win over Harvard:

Did the Tigers score four touchdowns in the fourth quarter, twice convert two-point conversions, lose their passing quarterback, Connor Michelsen, on a final drive that began at the Princeton 10, then have their running quarterback, Quinn Epperly, heave a prayer into the end zone on third-and-two at the Harvard 36 and have it answered?
The answers: yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

This week's Sagarin Ratings with last week's ratings in parentheses:

It's disappointing for the players who don't travel and will not get a chance to play on Saturdays, but the  traditional Friday afternoon junior varsity game against Harvard will not be played this year. A statement from the Dartmouth football office:
Due to a concern over available players and injuries, this year’s Harvard JV game has been cancelled.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
The Dartmouth has a story under the headline, From Irrelevancy to Equality: 40 Years of Women’s Sports at Dartmouth. It includes this candid remark from field hockey coach Amy Fowler:
“I think Dartmouth is a progressive place even though it’s way up here in the woods. Our women’s sports have done very well — almost to a fault, maybe — for some of the male alumni, who are like, ‘How come these sports don’t do better? How come the women are winning games?’”
