Night Flight

Butler Bowl under the lights
Going to be in Indianapolis for Dartmouth's season-opener against Butler on Sept. 21? Hopefully you weren't planning an early flight out.

Butler has announced its schedule and as widely anticipated the game will be played under the lights. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. (Sunset will be at 7:43, so the lights probably won't come into play until the second half.)

Butler's first four games are all under the lights.

The Bulldogs, like several other Dartmouth opponents, are taking advantage of the way the calendar falls this year to play 12 games, and their newest opponent figures to provide a very good challenge.

While they will still play Division III Wittenberg and DIII Franklin in the two weeks preceding Dartmouth, they will open on Aug. 31 at South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits were 9-4 last fall and went two games deep into the NCAA playoffs.
Game 2 opponent Holy Cross is playing 12 games for just the third time in school history. (link)
Also playing 12 games is traditional opponent Colgate, which is not on the Big Green schedule this fall – but probably wishes it were. The Raiders have a ridiculously hard nonconference schedule in 2013 with games against Air Force, New Hampshire, Stony Brook and Albany.
Brown, like all Ivy League teams, is limited to 10 games, but the Bears will play two home contests at night, not a bad trick considering they don't have lights. (They bring in portables.) They will face cross state rival Rhode Island and Princeton at night, and also face Harvard under the lights on the road.
Yale held a Pro Day with linebacker Will McHale and tailback Mordecai Cargill taking part. Portal 31 has a blurb.
A deserving nod to the Harvard football team, which is hosting a blood drive today. (link)
Stumbled across this video tour of Dartmouth that runs 2:27 and isn't half bad:
