Odds And Ends

The Sports Network lists 6-foot-3, 270-pound Princeton defensive end Mike Catapano as the Ivy League's top draft prospect on the defensive side, but does not list him among the top 11 (top 11?) FCS defensive prospects nationally. Find out who made the cut here.
Kudos to Columbia for being the first Ivy League school to post its official recruiting list here. Capsules on the players include comments from Coach Pete Mangurian.
Congratulations to Alex Magleby '00, the coach who led Dartmouth's Sevens to the 2011 and 2012 Collegiate Rugby Championships. Now the coach of the USA Men's Eagle Sevens, Magleby helped the team win the Tokyo Plate Final last week. According to USA Rugby, the Americans beat south Pacific power Fiji for just the third time ever in the semifinals and then posted a 17-0 win over Scotland for the title. It was the first Plate title for the United States since 2001.

More about Mags' team from someone who has a lot better grasp of this stuff than I do:
They are now tied w/Scotland overall after 7 of the 9 tourneys.  2 tourneys to go in Scotland in early May and London the following week. They need to finish ahead of Scotland overall to remain in the top group of 12 and qualify automatically for World Cup in Moscow in late June.
Otherwise, they need to qualify for World Cup thru relegation bracket.
Qualifying for World Cup would put them in good position to make run at qualifying for the Olympics.
